Board of Directors (not including the 3 staff Directors)
As the new academic year, in September, starts, we start to ask prospective Board members to show their interest. The AGM is held, at the end of November, when new Directors are elected, or existing ones re-instated. There are 3 categories - staff, parent and community. All are welcome!

Merrilyn Duook
Community Director

Alison Roberts
Company Secretary
I am a former employee at Nutkins, having worked there for years since my own 2 children were little. I have now reached an age of certain wisdom and retired years ago! I still enjoy the contact with the children, helping to keep me youthful, and I regularly visit as the story teller. I enjoy reading to the children and it helps me to learn their names for the occasions that I am called in on “supply”.
I have been married to my husband, John, for 40 years and have always lived in Peverell. With more time on our hands we enjoy our chalet at Bovisand Beach; and my main hobby is swimming in the sea, which I do all year round!
My name is Alison Roberts and I left my job at Nutkins in 2000 as I had 3 other jobs at the time and I could not manage them all so very reluctantly I handed in my notice.
I have however never left Nutkins Pre-School as my heart has always been there and when the staff explored some options in becoming a community business I did not hesitate to join them as a volunteer on their board of directors where I have remained ever since.

Lindsey Pritchard
Parent Director
I am a busy mum of 4 children. I was the duty manager of the local co-op for 10 years until the birth of my 3rd child. I am now a full time mum.
I have been associated with Nutkins since 2008 when my 2nd child started at Nutkins, since then one more has attended & left & the 4th one still attends Nutkins!
I have been married for over 2 years to my partner of 13 years. I enjoy cooking, especially cakes; walking and I am just getting back to some “me“ time by playing netball. (Lindsey Pritchard)

Beryl Brown
Community Director
I’m Kim Ash and have been associated with Nutkins April 2003 when my eldest child, Luke started. Since then I have supported them well with Isaac, then Ethan and definitely finally Lydia! During this time I have also been a regular attendee of Hope Baptist Toddler group; and team entry in the not so successful annual community quiz!
I work alongside my husband, Taran, in our Christian work with Solomon’s Porch when our time is not sought by Nutkins for recording purposes. Taran and I often toiled through the wee small hours editing the tracks on the recorded Nativity CD until we had perfection and it was cut. It hugely supported the children in the nativity; and my final commitment was to sing a solo on the day and my job was done – until the next time!
I have been Chair of the board of Directors for the past 2 years and have supported as many activities as is possible; the most memorable being supporting the funding application for the new porta-loo.
Beryl a stalwart member of life within the local community at Peverell. She is married with two children, six grandchildren. & one great grandson. Before marriage she worked as a Secretary.
After her children were born she spent ten years at home. Once they were more independent she returned to work mainly in administrative positions. Finally she was a School Administrator for twenty years followed by three years as a Clerk to Governors.
She is married to Pete; now often a “golf widow”! They were voted south west best grandparents in 2003, they narrowly missed winning the national competition in London.
Beryl supports the Toddlers, and Mums & Babies Groups, within the Church. These responsibilities keep her very busy. As if life isn’t busy enough she is the minute’s secretary for Nutkins, a supporter in all activities and an excellent cake maker!
Michelle Bailey
Chair person

My Name is Michelle, since 2006 my 3 daughters have all attended Nutkins, one of which still does. Nutkins has been supportive throughout the years, the staff amazing, and my children have learnt a great deal from attending such a fantastic setting.
Since 2010, I have been working as a childminder, although originally I come from a healthcare background. I love children so this was a natural progression for me; and has enabled me to teach children from a very early age myself, which is greatly rewarding.
I married in 2002, still married to the same man! As well as our 3 girls keeping us busy, we have a crazy rescue dog. and 2 cats. I also like to think of myself as an excellent cook, and baker, (move over Nigella), but my family feel very differently!!!!
After having travelled the country over the past few years, due to my husband’s work, we have been back in the area for 3 years, and are here for the foreseeable future.
