Introduction
We welcome 2, 3 and 4 year old children. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum; observing, and recording, the children as they learn through play. As the primary carer the parent / carer is asked to provide as much information about your child as possible. Their likes, their worries, their achievements. We like to celebrate the "positives" in a child's life; many tasks are rewarded with certificates and stickers. A "wow" certificate can be shared between home, and the setting, for any new challenges met.

Aims & objectives
Nutkins is situated opposite Central Park, a wonderful green open space; the “lungs of the city”. It provides many opportunities to explore, and enjoy, through mud hunts, treasure hunts and nature trails. It is also home to a community allotment; affording visits to observe chickens and quail. We also have access to an allotment in Outland road. The children collect food waste, from snacks and lunch for the composter; they learn how it is used on the soil. The children are able to sow and watch the growth (or not!) of the plants. The children are able to benefit from the harvest in their snack time foods. As a result of this connection, many families have now invested time and effort in their own allotments.
To advance the education of pre-school children under the statutory school age including children with “special needs”, and enhance their development and welfare by providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
To benefit the local community, by providing support, services and activities children & their parents through a not for profit organisation.

We also provide spaces for 2 year olds, including those eligible for “Me 2” funding. The “Me 2” funding is available for those within the specific criteria and may provide up to a maximum of 15 hours a week free.

Parent partnership
The parent / carer is very important to us. We endeavour to have happy children, happy parents and happy staff. We have an "open door" policy for a parent /carer to be able to easily discuss any concerns they may have.
We encourage parent / carers to be involved with activities, share their skills, develop some skills; become a Director, if they wish..
If a parent requires additional support; we can signpost them to the local children’s centre, Popin; and the activities for families with children under 5 that they provide.
